Hi, it seems that vinegar can be used to descale hot-water systems. But I can't find out if it is okay to put straight into the electric immersion hot-water tank? Would the vinegar do any harm to the heating element or thermostat etc? Or is there anything else in the hot-water system that vinegar could damage. Like corridor the metal pipes - my system is all copper as far as I can see!

Thanks for any help.

no guarentees on that, white vinager will work over time but the scale dislodged might block pipeways and taps further down!.
draining off cylinder and refilling a few times will also flush it out some.
taking off the top feed or emmersion and dip tubing it with a wet vac when empty will do a good job!
