To silicone, - or not to silicone, that is the question?
I know we are supposed to just tighten the strainer wastes bolt up, with just the washer to seal below the sink, but is to use silicone a better job?
My thinking is it bonds the waste to the sink and prevents strain on the plastic base of the waste later.

I like the MacAlpine ones with a foam washer inside the bowl and a rubber one underneath no silicon required but that's just my preference....regards Turnpin

i always do, quick wipe around underneath and only sods laaw if it leaks,
dont have to go back twice then!

Yea, I always used a smear of silicone.
Then I finally decided I was only giving myself extra work and having the nuisance to clean up excess silicone.
But I still think it was better to use it.

I was just trying to sound professional.
Honest method is usually a heavy bead on most of it and then wipe of half of it away when it inevitably squeezes out.
