15mm air vent cap

I have two air vent caps that seem to be blocked, no water are air comes out when I unscrew them. Can they be unblocked by poking something small down the middle?

worth a go, but be prepared for a jet of black stuff coming out.

A pin or needle, but as Redsaw says be quick with the cap back on.
